WHALE SHARK SEASON 2019: mid-May to mid-September.

Can you imagine swimming with an animal 14 meters long? The whale shark, the largest fish in the world, comes every year to visit Holbox. It is totally harmless, so you will have the opportunity to swim by your side, in an incredible experience. During the boat tour, we can also cross with turtles, giant blankets, dolphins and / or many other species.

Please, contact us one day in advance.

In general, we meet at 7 in Luuma, one block from the office, but we can ask you to come sooner or later, depending on the groups that we have created, the weather conditions, etc. If your accommodation is far away and you need a taxi, you must contact us in advance.

Intinerary: We meet in Luuma (one block from the office of Transfer Holbox) at 7 for an informative talk, deliver all the necessary equipment and offer a light breakfast, ideal to start the day. Then, we went to the pier, from where we started by boat in search of whale sharks. The journey can take us from one to two hours, with the possibility of crossing with different marine species (if we see a Devil Manta and its behavior allows us, we can also swim with this inoffensive giant). Once in the area, we will swim next to the whale shark in groups of two, always accompanied by a guide in the water, for safety and to ensure maximum enjoyment of the experience. On the way back we will make a stop at the caves in front of Cabo Catoche, to snorkel and see a small reef and perhaps find sea turtles, cat sharks, lobsters, squid, octopus and various reef fish. In our trip we will look for some fisherman who provides us with the catch of the day and with it we will prepare the freshest of the ceviches. Finally, we descend in Santa Paula, where we can stretch our legs, swim placidly and enjoy our ceviche. From this point the return to Holbox is 45 minutes.
